7/11 just passed by. It’s been 10 years since then but I remember that evening, crystal clear. It is embossed on the canvas of my heart. We were about to leave for a function. All set and happy. They stuck the backbone of the city at what we can call as the peak time of the day.
The spine was dismantled and you could see the already dead cells of the city and others going restless not knowing what had struck them. There was a bloodbath. The heart will always go to the ones that suffered. They wounded the families, killed the hearts and destroyed the lives.
I was too small to understand this facet. Why would anybody want to do that? Why would anybody want to destroy us?
I wasn’t aware of the facet of Terrorism, I’d have just heard that name.
As I understood gradually that terrorism was heinous and how could someone do that, the situations in my country have changed my question to how could someone support that?
Yes.
Why does a student with a third grade perspective in the captial of the nation call a bastard who attacked the Parliament, the very home of my democracy, a ‘martyr’?
And some imbeciles call the martyrs who wrote the independence of this nation with their dripping blood as fake?
Why does a terrorist who did that gets support asking for a fair trial?
Excuse me, where is that sugar coated perspective when millions of poor people serve sentenced for the crimes they never committed?
Why is it so that the people who died in riots and communal attacks and negligence are more in number than the ones who were killed at war with a life long enemy?
Why is it so that year after year, decades after decades we keep electing the same kind of people again and again who atone the throne just to suck our blood?
A imbecile down the street talks about freedom of speech of those who have the destruction of this country the first thing on their to-do-list.
A scumbag uptown speaks about which religion of all is better?
There is political disruption all the time.
A slight question arises. Is our fight to revival against the terrorist powers and the ever increasing violence and the good competition economic, administrative and ideological?
I feel it is against ourseleves.
I remember Linkin Park saying ‘I’m my own worst enemy’.
We need to fight ourselves first.
It is we who need to change.
We need to first uproot the internal demons to fight the ones on the outside.
And that my friends is not by such words I believe but by the innate feeling for the nation which only the individual himself/herself can imbibe.
We can’t just sit quiet and feel sad and write about it and turn our backs at it later.
We will do it. Will you join us? Because it’s just us and you. There is no place for ‘I’.
I could’ve been in train that blew up on that fatal day if I went 30 minutes early.
Or even you could have been.
Just ask yourself would you sit this quiet hands on hands doing nothing?
